In 2014, two very brave parents welcome a little boy called Ethan to the world. The pregnancy was tough but the couple were strong and when their tiny baby arrived, their friends and family could not be more proud. Ethan was born a few months early with Down’s Syndrome and was very weak, needed 24 hour care but the young lad is a fighter and he grew and astounded doctors daily.
I was kindly asked to have the honour of taking Ethan’s photos and when he was just 8 months old, I did just that. I set up a small studio in their conservatory and worked with his mummy to get some cute pictures of the little fella just in time for Christmas. The little patches on his cheeks are the plasters used to hold his oxygen tubes on and are just a reminder of what fighters him and his family are.
My plan is to photography this fabulous lad every year so the family have a document of his progress and his growing up. When I last saw Ethan he was just coming off his night time oxygen and was getting some fat on him and shooting big beams at everyone. No one can stay away from him, he’s such an inspiration and really just the cutest man around. I really can’t wait to see how he has changed by this time next year.
